feilea dealan'de

age: ~40
gender: female (she/her)
race: viera, rava
height: 5'8"
nameday: 20th sun of the 2nd umbral moon (april 19th)
sexuality: bisexual
birthplace: golmore jungle (dalmasca)
commonly found in: ul'dah, ishgard & coerthas
occupation: sex worker, dancer, former dragoon of ishgard, warrior of light
job/class: DRG > DNC (DRK)

20 questions...

1. Why did they pick their first class/job? What about the job they main now?
Feilea's first job was dragoon. When her and her dance partner Rildi were first together, they would lay in bed at night, and he would tell her stories about Ishgard and Coerthas where he grew up. This would include fanciful stories about brave dragoon warriors, their deeds and acrobatics. Rildi lamented that he wasn't strong enough to become even a measly squire, and confessed a childhood dream to be a dragoon one day. These stories intrigued Feilea and settled into the back of her brain, and these were the memories conjured up when she temporarily lost her memory. She confused Rildi's desires for her own, and took up the lance as a "new adventurer" when taken back by the caravan from the South Shroud to Gridania. Even after she regained her memory, she enjoyed the technique well enough to follow through and continue to hone her skills, though she eventually came to realize that, being born from someone else's wishes, it didn't always suit her.
She took up dancer during her time in the First, taking the fresh start of the new world seriously, as well as interest in the Crystarium captain Lyna's technique. As a street dancer, it came very naturally, and Feilea enjoys the freedom of movement and expression that dancing allows.
2. Does your WoL have a recurring nightmare (or more)? What is it?
She used to have nightmares about drowning, as she nearly drowned as a small child, though these dreams faded as she grew older. They temporarily resurfaced shortly after gaining the ability to breathe underwater, but were dismissed not long after. In times of stress, she has nightmares of her daughter being in grave danger, sometimes being dismembered violently.
3. Who do they worry about the most?
Her daughter Papillon, most definitely. She knows her dance partners can take care of themselves and know to stay out of trouble; the same goes for the Scions, even if they can't stay out of trouble. But Papillon is still very young, and very foolhardy, and the single person she cares about more than any other. No lovers or partners come close to the unconditional love she has for Papillon, and she will do anything to keep her safe.
4. What’s their alcohol tolerance like? (if they drink)
It is average for her size. She doesn't do any drinking contests, but she isn't a lightweight either. She is prone to sloppy confessions if she gets too drunk, however.
5. What is the first impression most people have of them? Is it different when they get to know them?
Feilea on first appraisal is confident and self-assured, incredibly street smart (at least in Ul'dah) and has at least a partial answer to any practical question on your mind. She isn't a scholar, and doesn't present herself that way, but she's warm and wise in practical matters. She also is very coy and unafraid to flirt if she thinks the subject is endearing. She is more vulnerable than she lets on--a key to knowing you have won her trust is if she asks to trouble you with something bothering her, rather than keeping the spotlight on your own woes.
6. Is that their natural hair color?
In her own words: "Come now, that's not a very polite thing to ask a lady, now is it?" (Yes, it is her natural hair color though! The yellow/blonde in her hair is not, but the yellow on her ears is. She talked up the aesthetician to make it match.)
7. How have they dealt with losing people?
Feilea requires solitude and reflection to truly come to terms with loss. Losing Haurchefant, Ysayle, and confirming Minfilia's loss in such a short time, and having to immediately embark on the next endeavor, strained her deeply, and made her quiet and withdrawn through her adventures in Ala Mhigo and the Far East. Since then, she has learned to take such things in stride, and internalize that death is a part of life, and the best way to honor the loss of someone is to live your best life in their memory.
8. How do they feel about the fame/infamy that comes with being a Warrior of Light/Darkness?
Being Eorzea's champion was not Feilea's first career choice, but she lives up to it as best as she can. She is graceful about the attention she receives, navigating it well after being frequently treated as an object on display as a dancer. She does enjoy being an adventurer much more, and takes delight when people don't recognize her on sight.
9. What does the way they’ve decorated their apartment and/or house (if they have one) say about them as a person?
Feilea's apartment is small yet richly luxurious, with plush couches and accents of deep red and royal purple. A kitchenette and larger living space have been compromised for a lavish king bed and a whirlpool spa tub. It's the perfect place to be intimate and unwind.
10. Do they misuse any of their abilities?
She doesn't...unless you count senselessly pulling out her spear a few times when annoyed in Stormblood, or having her Dragon Sight activated in bed with another dragoon...otherwise, she is responsible.
11. What location made the biggest impression on them?
Feilea always thought the Churning Mists and Dravanian Forelands was breathtaking, especially as early as she was in her adventuring career. Elpis also brought her spontaneously to tears.
12. Does anyone call them by a nickname? What do they think about it?
There are only a handful of people who do--Papillon obviously calls her Mom or Mama, and Rildi and Ka'saia call her Fei pretty consistently. The Scions will occasionally call her by this name, but she will usually start a little, which can inform if they continue to do so. Generally, she does not like being called Fei in mixed company, but will accept it in private settings. Strangers are not allowed. Alphinaud and Alisae are also gently reprimanded (it's a mom thing). G'raha tried once, but when Feilea raised her eyebrow at him for doing so, he turned apple red and did not try again.
13. What are their speech patterns like? More formal or informal?
Feilea speaks fairly formally, but it is a product of practice rather than nature. In her early days in Ul'dah, she wanted to blend in more than stand out, so she adapted speech patterns of her more wealthy clientelle. Since it allowed her to be treated more kindly, the habit stuck. Her Dalmascan accent scarcely shows through, although it will slip back when around other viera who still have it.
14. If they were not an adventurer, what would they be doing?
She would be dancing in Ul'dah still, as she did before. Though if she were ever to shed the Warrior of Light moniker, she would consider running off to the First to become a Honeybee ("a much fancier gig"). As tempting as it would be, she would likely decline it, as she would want to be able to spend more time with her daughter.
15. What is a simple pleasure they enjoy? How often do they get to indulge in it?
Quiet mornings, with a cup of tea, and no makeup. Feilea wears a full face of makeup constantly, and she never goes in public without it. Only an intimate few will know that she has a faint dusting of freckles on her nose.
16. What kinds of weather do they like and dislike? Do they handle heat or cold better?
Surprisingly, Feilea is an all weather girl, although she is predispositioned for the heat. She learned to deal with the cold after being stationed in Coerthas for so long. She kept being surprised at those who remarked at Garlemald's bitter cold, as to her it felt like no more than a particularly cold day in the Western Highlands.
17. What do they smell like?
Feilea wears a perfume that is flowery with a lingering scent like jasmine. It was her signature when she was dancing full time, but she doesn't tend to wear it when adventuring. She uses a cherry blossom shampoo when cleaning her hair, which is fairly consistent these days.
18. What is something they could never tell someone? (a memory, a wish, etc.)
Feilea has a lot of little secrets that she confides in maybe one or two people. Despite being warm and friendly, there is no one person who knows Feilea completely.
19. How has their journey changed them, if at all?
I think Feilea has used similar principles through her life in her journey; she has always been very poised and ready to handle any situation, no matter how difficult or silly it may be. Being the WoL has allowed her to become more worldly, and ignited her desire to travel, so despite a small wish to return to a "simpler life", I don't think she could ever settle back down for long.
20. When in the story was their highest point? Their lowest point?
There are more high points than lows: releasing the First from the light is a big one that felt truly triumphant. Her lowest point was probably post-Dragonsong War and beginning the journey through the Far East--significant loss and paranoia about Zenos and the safety of her loved ones weighed heavily on her.

icarus rhapsody

age: late 20's
gender: trans male (he/him)
race: hyur, midlander
height: 5'6"
nameday: 7th sun of the 4th astral moon(july 7th)
sexuality: gay (with occasional exception)
birthplace: thavnair
commonly found in: kugane, ishgard
occupation: dramaturge, general wanderer, steward of light
job/class: RDM

20 questions...

1. Why did they pick their first class/job? What about the job they main now?
Icarus was a bookworm as a child, and studied any kind of magic he could get his hands on. He learned rudimentary conjury and thumaturgy at a young age, and came across those who studied fencing and red magic during his theater troupe's brief stay in Ala Mhigo during his 10th summer. From there, casting came naturally, though he had to study fencing with a foil more diligently. He has always erred toward fire magicks, but does find the potent red magic of the soul equally tempting. Since becoming a red mage, he had no interest in learning any other craft.
2. Does your WoL have a recurring nightmare (or more)? What is it?
He has had several dreams about Hydelean reaching out to him, and he considers those nightmares, but nothing truly recurring.
3. Who do they worry about the most?
He would say he doesn't worry about others, but if pressed, he would say he worries about Minerva, the former WoL (prior to her death), and Serafin, his lover.
4. What's their alcohol tolerance like? (if they drink)
Icarus has a love of drink and he tolerates it decently. His problem is that he has a tendency for excess, therefore he is drunk often. Some would argue that he enjoys the sensation.
5. What is the first impression most people have of them? Is it different when they get to know him?
Most people find Icarus to be annoying and extravagant, as well as self-serving and coarse. If he doesn't like you, he will say so. It takes serious badgering and convincing to get him to do something that he otherwise would not do. Once he takes a liking to someone, he will not necessarily be less antagonistic, but he will show up when it matters, and he will be loyal baring extreme circumstances.
6. Is that their natural hair color?
Yes.
7. How have they dealt with losing people?
Mostly by withdrawing and bottling his grief. Icarus rarely shows grief in front of others unless he completely trusts them, and is prone to bouts of anger when he is grieving. His revenge on Zenos illustrates this in particular.
8. How do they feel about the fame/infamy that comes with being a Warrior of Light/Darkness?
He hates it. But also a part of him craves the attention--after all, who wouldn't want to be a hero? He always read about them in stories, played them on the stage; the grand and dazzling warrior who swoops in to save the day. But the way the status was thrust upon him was not as he wished, and it feels like a false title. In some ways, it felt like 2nd place. At first, he told others that he wasn't the WoL, but by the time him and the Scions travel to Old Sharlayan, he doesn't bother.
9. What does the way they've decorated their apartment and/or house (if they have one) say about them as a person?
Icarus has a maximalist lifestyle. He covers his shelves and walls with expensive trinkets from his travels, often in bold colors. He has a wall to ceiling bookshelf full of playbooks and legends, as well as magic studies. He also has a king sized bed in his single person apartment for "activities".
10. Do they misuse any of their abilities?
He's reckless and acts on pure emotional instinct a lot, so yes. A "restrained" reaction to someone who is annoying him is to pull out his focus and hold it behind his back, while holding his fingers in a snapping position under the other person's chin. He has severely injured someone thanks to a Verfire right to their face.
11. What location made the biggest impression on them?
Icarus is well-traveled; he had seen most of the world already prior to becoming a Warrior of Light. The deep crater in the Moon, where Zodiark was imprisoned, haunted him the most--the voices of those who were sacrificed and not yet returned to the flow of time, and the nagging feeling that he could have been one of them.
12. Does anyone call them by a nickname? What do they think about it?
He has no nicknames to speak of.
13. What are their speech patterns like? More formal or informal?
Icarus has rather formal speech, but he lapses into something less around those he is more comfortable with, or those he is less concerned about impressing. Any Hannish accent he had from his early childhood has fully been trained away, and as a result his accent is very neutral for the common tongue.
14. If they were not an adventurer, what would they be doing?
He would be preforming in his theater troupe, as he does in his downtime. He would also take more time to frolic off to Ishgard and spend time with his lover; perhaps given time and dedication, he would start a theater group there, so he would not need to leave. It is unclear if he would miss the travel.
15. What is a simple pleasure they enjoy? How often do they get to indulge in it?
An overstuffed chair, a mug of tea, and an enthralling book. His time is quite occupied, so he doesn't get to indulge as often as he would like. (Carnal pleasures may count as well...and he doesn't indulge in those nearly as often as he would like.)
16. What kinds of weather do they like and dislike? Do they handle heat or cold better?
Icarus prefers the heat to the cold; he enjoys wearing open chested shirts. Nonetheless, he will insist that the cold doesn't bother him. This is because he uses his magic to keep him warm, until he drains his own aether and collapses in the snow.
17. What do they smell like?
Cinnamon, and sometimes a scent reminiscent of charcoal. He has a noxious cologne he wears on occasion that he insists is "alluring".
18. What is something they could never tell someone? (a memory, a wish, etc.)
He will air his grievances about being the new Warrior of Light, and he will insult anyone who gets on his nerves...but he will never confess to fear. He has felt it numerous times, and he has tells that may betray him, but he will not admit it to anyone.
19. How has their journey changed them, if at all?
After all is said and done, Icarus has softened just a little--he is more sincere, and puts up a little less fuss when asked to help. He opens up a little more to his companions. It is both parts growth and resignation to fate.
20. When in the story was their highest point? Their lowest point?
Icarus's fate as a Warrior of Light is more of a tragedy, so it's hard to pick a "high point". Minerva's death after Doma was secured and Zenos' defeat are low points; his time in Old Sharlayan is generally remembered fondly.

candie appleton

age: ~21
gender: female (she/her)
race: roegydyn, sea wolf
height: 6"5'
nameday: 31st sun of the 4th umbral moon (august 30th)
sexuality: demisexual
birthplace: rhotano sea (raised in summerford)
commonly found in: limsa lominsa, mor dhona
occupation: culinarian, reluctant eorzean champion
job/class: CUL, ARC > BRD > MCH

20 questions...

1. Why did they pick their first class/job? What about the job they main now?
Candie is not a fighter. She only picked archer because it would allow her to hunt for game and not have to be up close and personal with it. From there, it was the only weapon she knew, so she continued to hone it. She was basically solicited to become a machinist when she arrived at Ishgard, and likes the guild well enough to stick with it.
2. Does your WoL have a recurring nightmare (or more)? What is it?
Her nightmares involve dreams where the Scions get picked off, one by one, and she can do nothing to stop it. Less dire nightmares include being in the kitchen at the Culinarian Guild and having no idea where anything is while orders pile up.
3. Who do they worry about the most?
Candie worries about everybody. Anyone who gets into any kind of trouble she will worry about. She worries less about those who are clearly able to handle themselves...but she never stops worrying about Alphinaud and Alisae.
4. What's their alcohol tolerance like? (if they drink)
She doesn't drink; when she does, her tolerance is incredibly low. She often falls asleep before any shenanigans ensue.
5. What is the first impression most people have of them? Is it different when they get to know him?
Candie can be intimidating at first glance, given she towers over many, but as soon as one observes her mannerisms and demeanor, that quickly dissipates. She is very sweet and generous, apologizing excessively for every inconvenience and always offering food of some sort. She is capable of light teasing once she is completely comfortable.
6. Is that their natural hair color?
Yes; the mix-up at her birth was precisely because of this reason, as both her birth mother and adoptive mother have natural pink hair.
7. How have they dealt with losing people?
Candie will try to run away; after the events at the Vault, she tried to run home, afraid that she wasn't able to protect anyone. She has learned to do it less, as she has lost more and more people, but she will always weep through her emotions.
8. How do they feel about the fame/infamy that comes with being a Warrior of Light/Darkness?
She would rather be known for other things (like her cooking), and she is ultimately a little shy about how well-known she now is. Candie ultimately feels that her power in battle is just luck, and her friends who are more seasoned warriors carry her through.
9. What does the way they've decorated their apartment and/or house (if they have one) say about them as a person?
Candie is quite practical; she keeps her home clean, warm, and sunny. There are always flowers in a vase and the smell of freshly baked bread in the air. Her kitchen is well stocked, if less used for how often she travels.
10. Do they misuse any of their abilities?
Hardly ever. Candie is a sweet girl and never likes breaking the rules.
11. What location made the biggest impression on them?
Candie was very impressed by the wide plains of the Steppe, and the fae lands in Il Mheg.
12. Does anyone call them by a nickname? What do they think about it?
Candie is a nickname, short for Candice. Even her own parents rarely call her that, though.
13. What are their speech patterns like? More formal or informal?
She tries to be formal in situations where it seems appropriate (i.e. anytime she's meeting anyone new). She has a heavy Limsan accent that seeps into all of her speech. She often gives more honorifics to people than necessary, using titles like "mister" and "ser" in one name. As she's more familiar, her speech relaxes.
14. If they were not an adventurer, what would they be doing?
She would be working in the Bismark as a master culinarian, her ultimate dream. She appreciates the culinary variety her traveling has given her. Between adventures, she is always honing her craft in the relevant city-states.
15. What is a simple pleasure they enjoy? How often do they get to indulge in it?
She loves it when all of her friends get together to break bread and enjoy each other's company. (The moments shared in Endwalker with the Scions around the dinner table are very special to her!)
16. What kinds of weather do they like and dislike? Do they handle heat or cold better?
While she can tolerate heat and cold equally, she doesn't like dry weather. It makes her skin itchy. She is a seafarer by birth and by heart.
17. What do they smell like?
Aromatic herbs and spices from whatever is in her kitchen, plus a hint of sea salt and vanilla. She prefers sweet smells.
18. What is something they could never tell someone? (a memory, a wish, etc.)
Candie wears her heart on her sleeve, and is open about most anything. She doesn't like to tell her family about certain details about her adventures, namely her battles or when something is slain. The "Weapon of Light" aspect is a very heavy burden on her.
19. How has their journey changed them, if at all?
Some would say she's the same jubilant, cry-baby Candie she's always been. But, when faced with adversary, she doesn't run away now. She has also learned to be tough when the situation calls for it.
20. When in the story was their highest point? Their lowest point?
Her highest point was bringing back G'raha Tia from the Crystal Tower, and reuniting with everyone upon her return to the Source. Her lowest point was after Haurchefant's death, when she tried to shed the WoL moniker and run away from her duties.

nabi'morpho prisma

previously known as: nabi monnawesfv; metelek oen petalouda
age: mid to late 20's
gender: it's complicated (he/him)
race: viera, veena
height: 5'9"
nameday: 32nd sun of the 3rd umbral moon (may 31st)
sexuality: pansexual
birthplace: dalmascan mountains
commonly found in: gridania, black shroud outskirts, ala mhigan fringes
occupation: former garlean conscript, bandit, adventurer
job/class: NIN, DRG, DRK

20 questions...

1. Why did they pick their first class/job? What about the job they main now?
Nabi had initially trained with a lance as a boy, and learned how to wield a sword in Garlemald. However, he turned to a rogue's knives for their swift and stealthy nature. The dual wielding challenged his combat ability, and he was eager to master it. As for dark knight, the job chose him, rather than the other way around. Dragoon also chose him, as Ishgard needed more dragon hunters, and he quickly fell into comfort with the lance.
2. Does your WoL have a recurring nightmare (or more)? What is it?
He used to have nightmares reenacting his father being killed in front of him, and later being tortured in Garlemald. He wakes up in a cold sweat, but hardly remembers the dreams when he wakes.
3. Who do they worry about the most?
He worries about Lyse, even after she comes into her own as a general. He takes special concern to those who choose to hide their faces like he does--he knows there's always a reason. (While suspicious of the Exarch initially, he did his usual "mask" speech for him when they were alone.)
4. What's their alcohol tolerance like? (if they drink)
Wholly average. When drunk, he tries to flirt with the most attractive person in the room, poorly.
5. What is the first impression most people have of them? Is it different when they get to know him?
Since Nabi wears a full face covering mask, he seems indecipherable, so most people are on their guard. He can go from soft-spoken and casual (Nabi) to coarse and direct (Metelek) in a moment, which also can confuse others, though some simply don't notice. When acquainted, he is friendly and will be of any service. If he's close to you, he may invite you to know more of his two selves. And on rare occasions, you will be allowed to see his face.
6. Is that their natural hair color?
Yes, even the blond streaks.
7. How have they dealt with losing people?
Nabi is very vulnerable to it, but eventually Metelek will step in, dry his tears, and steel his heart. He tends to lock away his anguish.
8. How do they feel about the fame/infamy that comes with being a Warrior of Light/Darkness?
It's strange to him, especially as a former Garlean conscript, and part of the reason why he hides his face. Part of him still fears that he will be condemned for treason, or as a spy, even after his feats of heroism. (His largest fears only dissipate after Ala Mhigo and Doma are freed.)
9. What does the way they've decorated their apartment and/or house (if they have one) say about them as a person?
If Nabi had his own place, it would be empty and spartan. He would much rather make a home in someone else's space than curate his own.
10. Do they misuse any of their abilities?
As Metelek, he has been known to be a little more aggressive than warranted. He has even forced the Echo on others when particularly upset, inflicting a painful memory as if it was their own.
11. What location made the biggest impression on them?
Oceans always leave an impression on Nabi--their vastness, their constant waves, their endless depths. The Ruby Sea, parts of La Noscea, and Kholusia come to mind.
12. Does anyone call them by a nickname? What do they think about it?
Nabi is short for Nabi'morpho; those who don't know him will will use his full title. The Scions will refer to him as Nabi; those who can determine front switches will call him Metelek when appropriate. Whenever he is in Garlemald, he will default to Metelek, even when Nabi's personality surfaces.
13. What are their speech patterns like? More formal or informal?
He is fairly casual; his Dalmascan accent is still somewhat present in his speech. Metelek completely masks it into a neutral tongue.
14. If they were not an adventurer, what would they be doing?
He may have continued to be a bandit in the Black Shroud, bonded with a Miqot'e, and lived a clandestine life. However, the Echo came to him, and he had an epiphany to turn things around and "turn himself in" to Gridania. And, the rest is history.
15. What is a simple pleasure they enjoy? How often do they get to indulge in it?
Nabi loves to watch the sunrise, and sunset to a lesser degree. He wakes up early to cherish the quiet moment.
16. What kinds of weather do they like and dislike? Do they handle heat or cold better?
Nabi hates the heat. He grew up in mostly cold climates and is accustomed to them. The harsh winters of Coerthas and Garlemald don't bother him, but he melts into a puddle in Thanalan's deserts.
17. What do they smell like?
Earthy, like the forest, with a whiff of leather.
18. What is something they could never tell someone? (a memory, a wish, etc.)
When Nabi was a minor Garlean authoritative figure, he was brutal to his colleagues, lashing out and injuring them severely. He has never revealed this to anyone since he escaped.
19. How has their journey changed them, if at all?
Nabi has grown into himself as his journey has gone on--most times, he only wears a half-mask now, over his eyes. He's become aware of himself as a system and learned to navigate it around others, and has also learned to trust in others.
20. When in the story was their highest point? Their lowest point?
His highest points involve restoring formerly occupied territories, such as Ala Mhigo and Doma, as well as restoring the darkness to the First. His lowest points involve his growing pains as a dark knight and battling himself.
